AIF Student Massage Clinic Policy
PURPOSE:
The AIF Student Massage Clinic is committed to providing our student therapists and clients a safe and professional environment. This policy aims to outline expectations for appropriate client behaviour during massage sessions.
THE STUDENT MASSAGE CLINIC:
Our students are continually being assessed - a supervisor may enter the massage cubicle during your treatment
Students must perform a physical assessment before they commence the massage. So, you will not be on the table for the entire time.
For hygiene purposes, underwear must be worn during the session
Children are not permitted in our massage clinics
Any references or comments of a sexual nature will not be tolerated. This is a professional learning environment.
Rude or offensive behaviour towards staff or students will not be tolerated.
If you are late for your appointment, we may be unable to add time to the end of your session.
INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR DEFINED:
Inappropriate behaviour encompasses any actions, words, or gestures that are disruptive, offensive, or make any person in the clinic feel uncomfortable, including:
Sexual harassment or advances.
Inappropriate comments or questions of a sexual or personal nature.
Any form of discrimination, including but not limited to race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation.
Aggressive or disrespectful behaviour, including verbal abuse.
Intoxication or drug use.
Violation of personal boundaries, including unwanted physical contact.
Any other actions that may be considered inappropriate in a professional, educational, or clinical setting.
CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clients are expected to:
Treat student therapists, instructors, and fellow clients with respect and professionalism.
Provide honest and accurate information about their medical history and conditions that may affect the massage.
Communicate their preferences and concerns regarding the massage in a respectful and constructive manner.
Comply with the clinic's hygiene and attire requirements.
Refrain from any inappropriate or disruptive behaviour as defined above.
If you are currently pregnant, it is recommended that you do not book and seek out a qualified therapist who specialises in pregnancy massage.
CONSEQUENCES OF INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR:
If a client engages in inappropriate behaviour as defined above, the following actions may be
taken:
Immediate termination of the massage session with no refund.
The client may be banned from scheduling future appointments at the clinic.
The incident may be reported to the appropriate authorities if necessary.
Incident Reporting by students, instructors, or fellow clients who witness or experience inappropriate behaviour is encouraged to report it to the clinic's management immediately. Reports will be handled discreetly and professionally.
